I bought this on Thursday, 8th November, 2001 at an insurance salvage auction.
It needs:
- Front fork chrome sliders replaced, both sides. Unfortunately, they are too bent to be straightened.
- Replacement top triple clamp. I've bought a new Applied Racing clamp for it.
- Speedomoter, mine is missing. The standard speedo is pretty useless, so I'm thinking of getting a speedo/tacho set off an NX650 Dominator from a wrecker.
- Speedo drive and cable
- Front mudguard and headlight surround
- Straighten out the crushed header pipe
- Straighten bottom triple clamp and front axle.

And that's pretty much it, really. Just relatively minor front end work. I'm expecting the total repair bill to be around $1500.
And, to make it even better, my XR650 has even got most of the things that I was going to buy anyway:
- Rear mudguard tookbag
- Fastline braided front brake line
- Barkbusters
- New O ring chain and good sprockets
- Twin Air air filter (ie the good dual stage one)
